How to Download and Install Dr. Garbage Plugins

Short Version

Point your Eclipse 3.3 Update Manager to http://www.drgarbage.com/updatesite
You will need a free account to access our updatesite.
We recommend regular updates as we are currently releasing several times a week.

You will need a valid license key for every Dr. Garbage plugin. You will be asked to obtain a license when you use a plugin for the first time. The process is normaly quite straightforward and self-explanatory. In case of any problems, please visit the License Key Installation Guide.


Long Version

1. Prerequisites for all Dr. Garbage Plugins

  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5 or higher
  • Eclipse 3.3 (Eclipse 3.4 Ganymede is not supported yet)
  • Graphical Editing Framework (GEF) 3.2 or higher. GEF is an Eclipse Plugin. The most common way to obtain it is to use the discovery site in the Eclipse update manager.
  • Direct internet access or valid proxy configuration (see: Eclipse Proxy Configuration Guide)
  • A valid user account at http://www.drgarbage.com. You may wish to create a new account if you do not have one yet.

2. Start the Update Manager

Help > Software Updates > Find and Install...

3. Select "Search for new features to install"

4. Create a new Remote Site

The URL of the Dr. Garbage updatesite is http://www.drgarbage.com/updatesite

5. Select Dr. Garbage Update Site and click "Finish"

If you do not have not GEF installed, you need to activate the GEF Update Site as well. The URL of the GEF Update Site is

http://download.eclipse.org/tools/gef/update-site/releases

6. Enter the user name and password of your account at drgarbage.com

Please create a new account for yourself, if you do not have one yet.

7. Select plugins/features you want to install

If you see messages about missing dependencies, click Select Required button.

8. Read and accept the licence agreements

9. Click "Finish" to install the plugins

10. Restart Eclipse after the plugins have been downloaded

11. Install license keys
